How Do I Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

Posted by Shawn | Uncategorized | Sunday 5 July 2009 6:04 pm

Pregnant women are the targets of several scams and miraculous stretch mark skincare creams are the most common. While a small amount of Vitamin E can be good for the skin, to expect that it will make all stretch marks go away overnight is not sensible. No matter what is used, the skin will in all likelihood show scars of physical stretching that happens over a short period of time. The degree of successful healing is dependent upon an individuals age, skin tone, heredity and diet.

The common cause of stretch marks is the stretching of the skin, an increase in cortisone production that weakens the skin’s elasticity and the interruption of collagen production. Usually, pregnancy or other weight gain causes the appearance of stretch marks. Nevertheless, other people might get these scars as well. These include body builders, growing teenagers, those taking Corticosteroids or those with a hereditary disorder, like Cushing’s syndrome, Marfan syndrome or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Folks might be vulnerable to these unsightly marks if they have dry skin, do not drink sufficient water, eat excess greasy foods, exercise too little or too much, take steroids, smoke or drink.

Although there is a variety of so-called stretch mark removal treatments on the market, the majority are at best only partially effectual. The least invasive treatment is the use of stretch mark creams such as Tretinoin cream (Retin-A, Renova) that can help with new stretching during maternity. These creams work by rebuilding collagen with the effect of reducing stretch mark appearance. Also available for new marks is Pulsed Dye Laser Therapy or Fractional Photothermolysis, both of which use wavelengths of light to promote collagen and elastin growth. For older marks, Microdermabrasion uses a handheld device to buff the skin surface with crystals, thereby removing skin cells from the top layer of skin to stimulate newer, more elastic skin growth. Additionally, for older white marks, the Excimer laser tries to encourage melanin production to reduce the appearance of the scars.

Currently, there is no guaranteed way of preventing stretch marks during pregnancy and there are no magic remedies either. Although there are various products marketed toward the reduction of stretch marks, there is no scientific grounds that suggest they really work. Maintaining overall health is the best thing a person can do to maintain an attractive appearance, by exercising, consuming a well-balanced diet, drinking eight glasses of water every day and applying a moisturizer cream on dry skin. Over time, these marks normally fade a bit on their own.

Getting pregnant may seem like a case of ‘slam dunk’ for so many women out there, but for the rest of us, it requires hard work and perseverance. While we all prefer just to take one medicine that would solve it all, sometimes it is best if we make an effort and try solving thing the natural way. One major reason for choosing natural methods is the fact that this way you avoid invasive and often painful medical procedures. Many women can get pregnant with the help of fertility doctor; still, it is better to try it out in a natural way. You can find other resources that talk about getting pregnant, but none will be so informative and helpful. In my opinion, Personal Path to Pregnancy is the best resource if you want to find information on getting pregnant naturally. The writer, Riley, talks about different techniques so you can choose the one that would suit you best.

The book Personal Path To Pregnancy includes several ways for getting pregnant. It discusses foods, exercise, chines herbs, and more. The later may seem like something that you would not want to talk about, but the fact is that unless your body is primed for pregnancy, you are not going to be able to do it. A lot of non-natural methods for determining your ovulation period simply do not work. The guide will show you an exact method for finding out your ovulation period and thereby enable you to learn your fertile time of the month.

Inside Personal Path To Pregnancy, you will find a way to achieve your dreams. The Path To Pregnancy guide includes information on food substances that can decrease your chances of getting pregnant to how stress can in fact cause infertility.

Delivery Method other than Medical Procedures

Posted by Shawn | Uncategorized | Tuesday 23 June 2009 5:22 pm

One of the effects that is sad due to our modern day and time in medicine is labor and delivery are pretty much medical procedures.

That might seem unusual to some because right off the bat people associate delivery with a medical event. But that is the main issue. It isn’t a medical event. It is an event that it is possible to keep it natural and private through alternate methods.  Women
should be made known to the other alternatives.

I would like to present one of those main alternatives from the perspective of a San Diego midwife.

That main alternate way is by having a homebirth midwife assisty you during your labor and delivery.  This practice is known as midwifery and there are plenty of midwives San Diego.

As cesareans and induction rates soar in hospitals, it has turned the joyous event of a delivery into an negative experience.

That is one of the main reasons for the push for more natural births through a licensed midwife or certified midwife.

Birth and the delivery shouldn’t necessarily include drugs, invasive procedures, private areas constantly being probled, etc.   It can be done safely and effectively in a home environment through that homebirth method or even a waterbirth San Diego method.

It is an industry that is highly regulated. You are able to find out about the skill and experience of the midwife who you are considering hiring.

But getting past the stigma of passing up having the baby in the hospital takes education.  But through experience and statistics most women can see that a lot of times having a baby in a hospital negatively effects the process. From potent drugs that are used ot slow the pregnancy down, or used to increase the speed of the pregnancy.  To having to go through a c-section.Hopefully women can see the comparisons and the contrast and see the success of using a midwife.

So for those women who want to try and keep the delivery of the baby a joyous occasion, using a midwife might be something they should look into.

With the day and age of the internet, finding information about the natural process is as easy as doing a search on the internet.

There they can find very helpful information so they can understand the process fully. They can view any safety concerns and how it is handled. And most importantly they are able to witness the keeping of the delivery of a child a monumental occasion that is kept private and is still a happy event.

Choosing a midwife safely

Posted by Shawn | Uncategorized | Sunday 21 June 2009 4:30 am

Pregnancy, what a beautiful time in the lives of a woman.Well, except for the sickness. But beyond that, the thought of a new baby arriving is exciting.

Usually, for a lot of women, how they are going to deliver the baby isn’t the big question.Because most women just do it the usual way which is a medical procedure which includes hospitalization, doctors, and drugs.

But for some women, there is an alternative. That alternate way is going through a midwife and having the baby naturally.  And it is that alternative I am going to share from my experience as a San Diego midwife.

For people that don’t know, midwives are women who help natural deliveries without drugs.  This means usually no doctors.

Often times midwives in San Diego perform these services at homes.Although, not known by most people, this way to deliver a baby is a safe and regulated alternative.

The women, or midwife, who performs this service is fully regulated.  They can come in the form of a licensed midwife or a certified midwife with a regulatory board overseeing them.

Sometimes the midwife can be a nurse, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

This form of delivery is an option a lot of women choose and includes waterbirth in San Diego. Most of the time this choice is made by women who prefer not to have any drugs during delivery so that they can keep the new baby away from drugs. Also it is for women who want to avoid invasive procedures like episiotomys.

When you are making a big decision such as the method of delivering your baby, you want to make right decisions. With most things, you want to pick the right person.

Like I mentioned before, this is a highly regulated industry. In that case, it is pretty easy to find a good licensed midwife.

All you have to do is find your state regulatory board that  oversees midwives and do a background check to see if there have been any complaints or issues with your prospective midwife.

With this step, you can find out if it is a quality midwife and someone you can trust. It is still obvious that even though there are no complaints or reports about your midwife, you still want to verify some references.

You are going to want to find a midwife whose clients speak highly of them. With something as private and personal as a delivery, going through these steps will help you pick the right midwife for your delivery.

How to Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

Posted by Shawn | Uncategorized | Thursday 18 June 2009 3:53 am

For most women, pregnancy means having stretch marks. While they can be itchy, stretch marks aren’t painful. Frequently, stretch marks develop after the fourth month of pregnancy, when the skin on the baby bump begins to get larger and the skin over the belly is stretched even tighter. Stretch marks appear on fleshy body parts that tend to expand the most during pregnancy. These areas are the breasts, upper arms, lower abdomen, rear and thighs.

Since stretch marks are common among pregnant women, women should be aware of the link between pregnancy and stretch marks and how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Let’s look at the gene factor first. You’re likely to develop pregnancy stretch marks if the women in your family have had them too. Gaining weight rapidly is the root cause of stretch marks, which makes you a prime candidate for them during pregnancy, particularly if you have twins. One thing few people realize is that a nutritionally lacking diet and dry skin can lead to stretch marks. Still, few people know that stretch marks are more likely to develop in people whose skin is less pigmented.

Pregnancy and Stretch Mark Prevention

So in response to the likely culprits of stretch marks, there are some specific things you can do to avoid stretch marks during pregnancy. Drink lots of water, a minimum of 8 full glasses a day. Use a stretch mark lotion that is safe to use during pregnancy or a specifically designed pregnancy stretch mark cream product. Eat a healthy diet that is full of nutrients but not full of calories.

Keeping the Postpartum Stretch Marks at Bay

After delivering your child, your stretch marks are going to assume a dull, silvery color. If you become pregnant again, these stretch marks may color up again. You can prevent stretch marks during pregnancy if you control your weight in between your pregnancies and during your next ones.

Pregnancy Stretchmark Creams

Pregnancy stretch mark creams can assist in keeping stretch marks from showing up during pregnancy. Your current stretch marks will benefit from the application of these creams, but they work best when you use them early on — such as when you want to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. According to one study, pregnancy stretch marks cream products were evaluated based on the following factors: safety, satisfaction, expedience and duration. Three creams were discovered to be the best: Barmon, Zenmed Stretta, and Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention Cream.

Pregnancy is a joyful time in a woman’s life. Pregnancy does have its downsides (stretch marks, for example), but they are nothing compared to the joy you will feel knowing you have a baby developing inside you. If you want to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy, try to look for and read as much information as you can about them. Learn about proper diet and hydration, as well as invest in a good pregnancy stretch mark cream or lotion.

Making preparations for a baby shower is a unique and thrilling time. Personalized baby shower invitations can go a long way in making a baby shower a special occasion. Precious Moments is a popular theme and if this is the theme that you are going to use then you will be able to find invitations that tie in with it without any difficulty at all. You can choose the size of the invitation that you want, the quantity, and whether or not you want the colors to match the gender of the baby being born.

Most of the time, women will prefer to send blue for a boy, and pink for a girl. This can be a big help to your guests and give them a better idea as to what to bring. The EPT Home Pregnancy Test: What to Look For

Posted by Shawn | Uncategorized | Tuesday 9 June 2009 12:34 am

When talking about home pregnancy test, there’s so much choice that one get rapidly get confused. The problem with that choice is the range of quality is very broad and for something such as pregnancy, where emotions are very high, you do not want to get confused and lost. This means getting the best, most reliable pregnancy test possible, and that is the EPT home pregnancy test.

The world of pregnancy test abonds and there exists all types available out there. Among all of these, the EPT home pregnancy test is very efficient and fast. It will be able to tell you quickly and simply whether you are pregnant or not. Most pregnancy tests you have to wait two days before your menstrual cycle, but with the EPT test you can test as early as a week before.

You also want to be confident about the result and, again, the EPT is the best choice. Its accuracy is over 99%, well over many other tests. And this is really what you want. Imagine how desastrous it would result for you to have a false positive, having all the illusion of waiting for a baby and finally knowing that it was not the case.

On the contrary of false positive, you should take into account the risk of false negative. By this, I mean that despite that EPT is nearly 100% sure, taking the test too early could result of thinking you’re not pregnant when you are. Most of you will want to have the news as soon as possible. But, you must understand that the functioning of the EPT test is based on the hormone HCG, and it may well not be that strong enough in the early days. Do not desperate. Wait until its time. Anyway, you will still have nearly nine month to enjoy your pregnancy and each moment of it.

Now, if you find that you’re pregnant with your EPT home pregnancy test, you should still consult a doctor and have him confirm before fooling around. The accuracy of the test is very high and it should just result in the confirmation but one is never enough sure.
